Utp Rising EOI

Created in response to the lack of tertiary arts education in Western Sydney, Utp Rising aims to expand young artists’ horizons on the possibilities of art, encouraging critical thinking and experimentation.

In the 4-year program, young artists will be mentored through knowledge-sharing workshops and excursions to local galleries and organisations. With a focus on engaging Western Sydney creatives as facilitators and exploring the Western Sydney arts ecosystem, the program will equip artists with skills to navigate a career in our unique context.

Throughout the program, participants will also have the opportunity to showcase their work. You can see projects by the previous Utp Rising cohort, including the CHANNELS exhibition or the Re:Present zine.

Last year, we began our program's second iteration with a new cohort of 10 incredible emerging art-makers and now we're excited to extend this opportunity to more creatives!

Participants are given $75 honorariums for each workshop/excursion they attend. With this model, complete attendance is not compulsory as we understand a 4-year program is a marathon –not a sprint– and everyone has to balance other life commitments, such as school or work.
