A Sydney story we should all know. A Dharug story. Bulunggayi (Maria Locke) was a formidable Dharug advocate who fought for justice and equality in Western Sydney.
This is her story told by one of her descendants, Leanne Tobin, and a self-determined team of esteemed First Nations performance makers. 10 years in the making, Bulunggayi by Leanne Tobin is the first major Dharug text-based performance work of scale.
CREATIVE TEAM

The team of creatives will come together for intensive lab developments over a 6 month period, working collaboratively on script development, design and performance. These activities will take place entirely on Dharug Country, grounding the project in the cultural context of the story it tells.
